Which one holds them best?
Every piece here keeps a small amount of ashes or fur in a closed chamber. What changes between them is where you carry it. A necklace sits close to the chest, the most visible and the most ceremonial. The locket bracelet stays on the wrist, where you catch their face through the day. A keychain is the quietest of them, for people who don't wear jewelry. The heart ring puts them in your line of sight every time you look down.
If you want their face on the piece as well as their ashes, look for the hand-drawn portrait styles: the disc, heart and teardrop urns, the locket bracelet, and every keychain. The open heart, the cat, and the ring carry their name instead. Each product page shows how that piece opens.
In case you're wondering.
How do the ashes or fur go inside?
Different pieces open differently: some unscrew at the lid, some at a single small fill hole. Whichever you choose, it arrives with a fill kit, printed instructions, and a chamber you can reach. Take as long as you like. Capacity: a small amount — a pinch of ashes, or a wisp of fur instead. There is no amount you have to get right.
Is it strange to wear something that holds ashes?
No one will know unless you tell them. From the outside these read as jewelry: a disc, a heart, a teardrop, a small cat. The chamber sits closed inside the piece, and the portrait side is the side that faces out.
Will the metal fade, and how do I care for it?
The base metal is 316L surgical stainless steel, hypoallergenic and tarnish-resistant, plated in rhodium, 18k gold, or 18k rose gold. The engraving is laser-cut into the metal itself, so there is no ink and nothing to chip or wash off. With reasonable care (take it off for showers, swimming, sweat-heavy workouts, and sleeping) it is built for daily wear rather than a drawer. If you do see tarnishing or fading within six months of normal wear, email us with photos — we'll review and either replate or replace it at our cost.
How much of their ashes does it actually hold?
A keepsake portion, not all of them. The chamber is meant for a little, and a wisp of fur works just as well if you would rather not use ashes at all. Exact volume per style: a small amount of ashes or fur — it varies by style, so we say a pinch rather than a number.
How long will it take to reach me?
Each piece is drawn and engraved to order, so there is a making window before it ships. Every piece ships within 48h, and delivery to the US runs 5-12 business days after that. Free US shipping on orders over $60.
What if the chamber opens, or I lose the piece?
Email hello@puptrace.com and a person answers, usually within 12 hours, any day of the week. Every piece is backed by our 30-day guarantee · Love it or remake.
Can I see the drawing before I order?
Yes — for every portrait style. Send one photo, and the artist draws it and emails it back within 48 hours. No credit card, no order. The open-heart necklace, cat necklace, and heart ring are name-only styles. See your pet's portrait first, then decide whether you'd like it engraved.
See your pet drawn first →Drawn by hand, one at a time.
We engrave from drawings — not photos. An artist works from the photo you send, redraws your pet at the size the piece actually is, and that drawing is what gets engraved.
It starts the way it started with my own dog — a photo, and someone drawing until the lines look like them.
